Tourism is one of the fastest-growing economic sectors, but also one of the most exposed. Climate change, economic shocks and – as recently witnessed – pandemics can have devastating consequences. This makes it all the more important to support the partner countries of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), where tourism significantly contributes to development. These objectives are addressed by the projects “Digital Tour Guiding” and “Resilient Tourism”. The web-based trainings provide employees in the tourism and hospitality industries with a digital, free continuing education offer.
A total of 13 courses are available free of charge on the GIZ learning platform atingi. In addition to the courses developed here, atingi offers further digital training opportunities for various contexts around the world. Translated into multiple languages, the offering is not only inclusive but also sustainable.
Learning content should be received and understood. However, they should also be sustainable and adapted to requirements. For this reason, a blended learning approach was chosen for the project, allowing in-country classroom seminars to complement the digital courses. the countries.
Learning success is one of the strongest motivators. For this reason, atingi used a badge and certificate system based on various assessments. This provides learners with official proof of their achievements and qualifications.
